The project involves six partners from Poland (2), Lithuania (2), Denmark (1) and Sweden (1). The partnership is composed of universities, wastewater treatment companies, a municipality and research centre of PPs. The partners are supported by one associated partner which is a municipal service provider company from Poland. The project is led by Rybno commune (PL).The overall project objective is to test and implement new solutions to reduce the amount of waste (increase in the use of sewage sludge) and to limit pollution from water and sewage management discharged in the Baltic Sea catchment area.The project’s activities focus on analysing the problem and the needs on the fields on improving wastewater management systems to introduce water-safe and eutrophication-limiting treatment as well as on biogas production from municipal sewage sludge and designing and testing solutions in three locations on the aforementioned fields. The work plan also contains study visits and workshops for stakeholders and promoting the outcomes of the project.The main target groups are local government units and public institutions, municipal enterprises dealing with the management and operation of sewage treatment plants, agricultural advisory institutions, research and scientific units, potential users of fertilizers from sewage sludge, companies specializing in the production of equipment and technologies for municipal management and other entities, non-governmental organizations working to protect the environment and users of public services.
