The project is led by the Stiftelsen Västerviks Museum (SE).
The overall project objective is to strengthen the position of South Baltic Area as cultural and sustainable tourism destination by creating and marketing a cross-border brand of local hubs offering attractive touristic activities connected to the maritime heritage theme.
The project’s activities are included in three content-related work packages. With the first one, the planning of the sustainable hubs of maritime tourism is foreseen; partners will create the development concepts with the vast involvement of local stakeholders. In the second work package, partners will start the promotion activities to properly disseminate information about BOATMAN’s touristic offer. It includes the production of audio guides, video materials, an animated movie, and the design of a joint exhibition stand, culminating in a branding and marketing strategy. The last work package is dedicated to the creation of innovative touristic and cultural offers – maritime heritage hubs supported by various activities such as craft workshops, boatbuilding showcases, guided visits to exhibitions, sailing or rowing tours, festivals, and other thematic events.
The main target groups are local stakeholders, including local NGOs, SMEs, administrations, and active citizens, and tourists, who are categorized into subgroups such as “adventurers” “families” and “local inhabitants”.
