Acronym: AMBeR

Project partners Member States: SE, DE, PL, LT

There are clear disparities in innovation capacity across the South Baltic area, being those wider between urban and rural territories due patient’s travel distance to specialised clinics and the obstacles of rural areas inhabitants in accessing monitoring and rehabilitation in contrast with patients living in urban areas. Thus, Innovation is much needed to deal with a dramatically increasing number of cancer due to longer live expectancy and the improvement of diagnostics and treatments.
The AMBeR project’s vision is to share the experiences and knowledge among project partners and provide a model of implementation and input for policy guidelines on regional and national level, focusing at the start on treatment monitoring from the patients ́ own home and e-rehab solutions, which can provide truly patient-centered care and continuity of care, ensuring better outcomes for cancer survivors.
AMBeR has the potential to:

  • Reduce the number of hospital visits and transportation time for cancer patients in rural areas.
  • Start cancer rehabilitation earlier and make it accessible to more patients.
  • More patient empowerment and improved quality of life.
  • Reduce social and geographical inequality in health care by improving accessibility and inclusion.
  • Contribute to higher treatment quality and efficiency as well as truly patient-centered care.
A cross-border collaboration and knowledge sharing on the use of new, digital technologies in home diagnostics and monitoring as well as rehabilitation for cancer patients will provide models that will be useful for the entire South Baltic region.
