Most of the projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the Interreg South Baltic Programme are considered innovative. The INCONE60 – Inland Blue Transport Connector E60 project and its innovative, digital tool, the Cargo Flow Model, have been more and more popular over the last couple of years. The project has started in 2018 aiming at developing more efficient maritime transportation and promote more environmentally friendly means of transport between small and medium-sized ports in the South Baltic area. The INCONE 60 team develop and test the Cargo Flow Model by organising pilot trips via the international waterway E60 and other waterways and cooperates with institutions and other UE projects also outside the Programme area.
Recently, the Lead Partner of INCONE 60, the Gdynia Maritime University and its Maritime Institute, has been awarded at the gala of the Intelligent Development Forum in Toruń, Poland.
The Polish Intelligent Development Award 2021 (Polish: Nagroda Inteligentnego Rozwoju) in the category Innovative technologies and research for the future, has been handed to the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development of the Gdynia Maritime University, prof. Tomasz Tarasiuk, by the Deputy Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy, Ms Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak.
The Polish Intelligent Development Award is a prestigious award in the business and scientific environment which popularises, promotes, and appreciates creators of technological and social innovations, as well as investments which in direct or indirect ways raise the standards of people’s lives.
The organiser of the contest is the Intelligent Development Centre. The substantive partner is the Silesian University of Technology. The INCONE60 – Inland Blue Transport Connector E60 project lasts until May 2022.
