Bornholm is a Danish island in the middle of the South Baltic Sea region that besides its small size preserves a long history made of different dominations, from the Middle Age to the Second World War. The Hammershus Ruin, the remains of a fortress erected in the 13th century, is the largest medieval fortifications in Northern Europe.
The Museum of Bornholm, based in the island’s largest city of Rønne, has been a project partner of the ArchaeoBalt project. The project aimed at creating a regional network of sustainable tourism across the archaeological sites that were object of excavations by the project partners.
