Launch of the RegioStars competition 2023

01.03.2023

Every year, the European Commission awards those EU-funded projects, which demonstrate excellence and new approaches in regional development. With the goal of inspiring other regions across Europe, participating projects are in the spotlight of communication activities at European level.

Thematic focus

The REGIOSTARS are awarded to projects in six thematic categories (competitive and smart; green; connected; social and inclusive; close to the Citizens; and a topic of the year)

In 2023, the REGIOSTARS are focused on six areas that are crucial part of the EU’s regional policy:

  • COMPETITIVE AND SMART Europe: Increasing the competitiveness of local businesses
  • GREEN Europe: Striving for green and resilient communities in urban and rural settings
  • CONNECTED AND INCLUSIVE Europe: Fostering inclusiveness and digitalization
  • SOCIAL AND INCLUSIVE Europe: Tackling Europe’s social and demographic challenges
  • FAIR EUROPE: Ensuring a fair and inclusive green transition, leaving no one behind
  • TOPIC OF THE YEAR: European Year of Skills 2023. Boosting competitiveness, investment in training and upskilling opportunities demanded on the labour market
